I find
it amazing that we have been in this shop eight
years. It only seemed like a short while ago that
we opened this concession. However, as I look
around I can tell by all of the changes in our
business that we have been here a while.
Take a look at the merchandise we are selling
that we did not have when we opened the shop-
bath and body, lingerie, pet souvenirs, electronic
games and inspirational items. Additionally, we
are doing things in other areas that were not
doing when we started- such as profit sharing
plan, customer surveys, ethnic festivals, this
newsletter and many many more.
These
changes and our willingness to change indicate
that we have not become victims of our success
or that our success is tied to the past. On
the contrary, these changes indicated that our
success is tied to our future. What we do or
sell today will determine our success not what
we have done or sold yesterday.
In
a recent employee meeting, we established the
vision that, we will be the premier airport
gift shop in the world. If this is to be true,
we must make changes or improvements at an even
faster rate. Where will the ideas for the changes
come from? What will trigger the ideas? Usually
changes or ideas arrive out of a need for or
a sense of urgency.
The
need or sense of urgency stem from our knowledge
of our business- our customers, their buying
habits, their needs, new merchandise, this airport,
etc. No stone can be left unturned in our search
for knowledge.
If
we educate ourselves about our business- and
we must,
If
we generate new ideas- and we will,
If
we implement tomorrows ideas today- and we can
Then
our vision of being the premier airport gift
shop in the world will become a reality. Sincerely,
Brady
